How we work
Research Application Process

Step 5. Lead applicants are notified accordingly 6 weeks after the application deadline
Application Criteria
The Trusts' Expert Review Panel will assess all applications before recommendations are made to the Board of Trustees. All funding applications will be judged against the following criteria:

2. Does the proposed study neccessarily repeat research already undertaken, or duplicate work which may currently be taking place?
3. Does the project have scientific credibility?
4. Is the project feasible?
5. Does the project have ethical approval?
6. Are the costs requested realistic?
7. Is the length of time required for funding appropriate to the work invovled?
8. What is the likelihood of a study making a substantial advance in scientific understanding and knowledge?
9. What is the likelihood of the study leading to a substantial health gain?
10. What is the likelihood of the study increasing our understanding of the broader topic area?
Funding & Reporting
Funding for succesful applications will be given in two phases with reports due half way through and at the completion of the project. Failure to provide reports coiuld have an adverse affect on any future applications made by those applicants concerned.
If an application for funding is rejected the Board of Trustees decision is final and cannot be appealed against. However brief feedback will be provided to all unsuccessful applicants. If an application is rejected it does not prevent the applicant from applying for future funding from the Trust for other relevant projects.
